Coworking in Amsterdam

20 spaces – updated 2026
← Back to Amsterdam city guide

Amsterdam has one of the most developed coworking sectors in Europe. The city’s large population of international professionals, remote workers, startups and freelancers has created a rich ecosystem of spaces ranging from premium serviced offices to free library desks. The best spaces cluster around the Zuidas business district, the creative hubs of Amsterdam West and Noord, and the central neighbourhoods of the canal ring.

Amsterdam’s coworking market is competitive and quality varies significantly. Always visit before committing to a monthly membership – wifi speeds, noise levels and community quality vary far more than the marketing suggests. Most spaces offer a free trial day. Take it.

Good to know
Coworking in Amsterdam as an expat
For newly arrived expats, coworking spaces are one of the fastest ways to build a professional network in Amsterdam. The community events, shared lunches and informal introductions that good spaces facilitate are genuinely valuable. Several spaces also offer registered business address services useful for ZZP (freelance) registration – typically 50 to 150 euros per month. If you are setting up as a freelancer in the Netherlands, this is worth considering alongside your KVK registration.

Practical Advice
5 tips
Day pass vs monthly membership

Day passes in Amsterdam range from 15 to 40 euros at full-service spaces. Monthly memberships start around 200 euros for hot desk access and rise to 600 or more for dedicated desks or private offices. If you need a desk three or more days per week, a monthly membership is almost always better value. Take advantage of free trial days before committing.

ZZP registration and business address

If you are registering as a ZZP (freelancer) in the Netherlands via the KVK, you need a business address. Most coworking spaces offer registered address services from 50 to 150 euros per month. WeWork, Spaces, Regus and The Thinking Hut all offer this. A coworking business address is fully accepted by the KVK and the Belastingdienst.

Amsterdam Zuidas for finance and law

The Zuidas financial district in Amsterdam South is where most major banks, law firms and financial services companies are based. If you work in finance, legal or consulting and need to be near your clients, Regus Zuidas and WeWork’s South axis locations are the most practical choices. The Zuidas is 20 minutes by tram from the centre or direct by metro from Schiphol.

Noord for creatives

Amsterdam Noord has the most interesting and affordable creative workspace in the city. NDSM, Pllek and Espressofabriek are all here. Noord is five minutes from Centraal by free ferry and rents are significantly lower than the south side of the IJ. If you work in a creative field, Noord should be your first consideration before committing to a central space at double the cost.

Wifi and connectivity

Amsterdam has excellent broadband infrastructure and most coworking spaces offer reliable gigabit connectivity. The free library wifi at the OBA is consistently fast. For video calls, confirm with any cafe or informal space before relying on their connection for client meetings. Most premium spaces guarantee minimum upload and download speeds – ask for specifics before joining.
