Cafes in Eindhoven

← Back to the Eindhoven city guide

Eindhoven has one of the most serious specialty coffee scenes in the Netherlands, built around a cluster of roasteries and independent cafes that have turned the city into a genuine destination for coffee lovers. The Kleine Berg, the Witte Dame building, and the Victoriapark area have the highest concentration of quality cafes. The design and technology culture of the city is visible in how these spaces are set up: most are work-friendly, thoughtfully designed, and serve food and lunch as well as coffee. For evening food and drinks see the restaurants guide and bars guide.

Most of Eindhoven’s best specialty coffee cafes roast their own beans and sell them to take home. Lucifer, DENF, Bean Brothers, and Stadsbranderij all offer beans for purchase at the bar. Several cafes have laptop policies during busy periods, so check before settling in for a long working session.

01Lucifer Coffee Roasters€
Kleine Berg 47, 5611 JW Eindhoven · View on Google Maps

The cafe that most consistently comes up when Eindhoven residents are asked where to get the best coffee in the city. Lucifer was founded in 2015 on the Kleine Berg, on the site of the first match factory in the Netherlands, and the name and identity pay deliberate homage to that history. The beans are roasted in their own roastery and the coffee is specialty espresso and filter, served by staff who take the work seriously. All-day breakfast menu and sandwiches sit alongside the coffee, and there is a dedicated laptop area for those who want to work. Lucifer also has a roastery location at Kennedyplein 103 for those who want to watch the roasting process. Multiple locations across the city, but the Kleine Berg bar is the original.
